The council invites you to experience the enchanting flute and harp duo, as part of Southend’s concert series.
On Friday 7 February, Southend-on-Sea City Council are excited to welcome the Metis Collective for a captivating performance by the flute and harp duo, Harriet Adie and Mary Thorneloe. These accomplished musicians have enjoyed successful careers as soloists and orchestral players, performing across the UK and Europe, including at the BBC Proms and with some of the UK's leading orchestras.
The flute and harp create a beautiful and expressive combination, especially in this programme featuring music from Bach and Mozart to Debussy, Massenet, Ibert, Donizetti, and Glinka. A highlight of the programme will be an arrangement of Bizet's Carmen Fantasy for flute and harp.
Tickets are now on sale for this must-see performance in Southend, to be held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea, SS2 6ER. The Civic Centre offers free parking after 6pm and is easily accessible, being located on a major bus route and close to both Southend Victoria and Southend Central train stations.
Councillor Matt Dent, cabinet member for culture, tourism and business, said: "We are delighted that Southend will be welcoming the Metis Collective for their first performance in our City.
"Our concerts make sure both residents and visitors have an opportunity to experience world-renowned music without having to travel to the big concert halls, cathedrals and abbeys of London and other major cities."
"I would encourage everyone to book early for this performance at the Civic Centre so as not to miss the amazing musical talents of this internationally regarded duo."
The concert will be held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea, starting at 8pm. Tickets are priced at £12 and can be purchased on our concert series page or by phone at 01702 215011, Monday to Friday, during normal office hours.
